Welcome to the ARVRinEDU Advent Calendar 2022! Our special focus this year is on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). These mini blogs will spotlight an immersive resource that can be easily implemented into the curriculum.
Vermillion (ART, VR)
Get your creative juices flowing in this immersive painting experience using the Vermillion app. I felt giddy exploring this virtual reality application in the Meta Quest. My first challenge was using the brushes and combining colors on the pallet. I was impressed with the accuracy and details that made me continually forget that I was in virtual reality.
One of the helpful resources in the Vermillion application is the built-in browser. View YouTube videos to guide your design or search through images to paint. Once you find the perfect inspiration, load the video or photo on your canvas and adjust the transparency to guide your painting. You may not see my painting as a masterpiece, but I’m sure I could win a contest somewhere.

Steps to get started
1. Download the Vermillion VR app in STEAM or the Meta Quest Store ($19.99).
2. Don’t skip the tutorial! Learning how to use the handles, brushes, etc., is tricky without the tutorial. Plan for an hour to gain all the necessary information for your masterpiece.
3. Share your paintings on your Facebook timeline.
