If you've had the chance of exploring the Merge EDU apps, you're likely familiar with the incredible AR experiences they offer. These experiences allow students to interact with digital objects in an engaging and educational way. However, these apps have an often-overlooked feature that can further enrich the learning process: the recording feature.
Benefits of Recording in AR
Why is this feature so important? For one, it allows students to share their learning experiences with peers, educators, and community members. The recording can spark discussions, encourage collaborative learning, and provide a platform for feedback. Adding voice context to these recordings allows students to explain their understanding, offering a deeper insight into their thought processes and knowledge.
How to Use the Recording Feature
Capturing your augmented reality experiences is as simple as tapping an icon. Located at the top right of your screen, this icon is your gateway to recording your interactions with AR content. Start by tapping the icon, and the recording begins. Once you've completed your session, tap the icon again to end the recording. The video will then load directly onto your device, ready to be shared or reviewed.
Step 1: Open one of the Merge apps (Explorer, Object Viewer, Hologlobe)
Step 2: Place the object in your space and start the AR experience such as viewing a 3D object or starting an immersive lesson.
Step 3: Select the icon in the top right corner (pink circle)
Step 4: Allow the recording of the screen and microphone
Step 5: Tap the recording icon again to end
Step 6: Select Save to keep the recording on your device
Incorporating the recording feature of Merge EDU into your educational toolkit can expand how students engage with immersive content.
