Day 27: Tokotoko

Get ready to jump into the playful world of Tokotoko, where your drawings come to life in augmented reality. The creative AR app immerses the student into various stages of a story. The story is separated into 10 scenes, each part relying on the student to help build the stage, the props, and even the characters.

The best part of the app is viewing your sketches appear in the story. I am limited in my drawing skills, but when they are brought into the scene, it makes you feel like an ARtist! The story is fun and highly interactive, and you'll want to participate every step of the way. Not only will you want to engage in the story, but you'll build your achievements along the way. I've achieved 4 out of 16 awards so far: marshmallow heater, mini-guitar, bunch of leaves, and bees' friend.

"The story captures drawings on paper and layers them in the scene. Each character is full of personality, and students can personalize them by including their own artwork. Students will love interacting with these creative story puzzles, especially if they enjoy art." page 71 of The Immersive Classroom

Steps to Get Started:

  2. Open the app and follow the prompts to begin your journey

  3. Find a flat surface like a table or floor that is in a well-lit area

  4. Have your blank paper and markers ready to create the artwork needed for the stories
