A few years ago, I learned about Scavengar, an augmented reality scavenger hunt app. I remember being excited about the many possible learning activities educators could create with this technology. Specific to iOS devices, students can get up and capture objects, answer questions, leave GIF feedback, and compete against other students (possibly getting listed on the leaderboard).
The app has introduced a feature that takes the scavenger hunt experience to the next level with the 3D upload option. Students can now capture 3D objects within the hunt or upload 3D objects in the scavenger hunts they create. This feature allows students to experience more immersive and realistic learning that connects the content to an item that now appears in their classroom.
Steps to get started
Download the Scavengar EDU app. (iOS only)
Select the plus button at the bottom of the screen.
Establish the size/shape of the experience.
Select Add Item and then Custom 3D Item.
Upload the .usdz or .reality object.
