If you've heard about Assemblr in the past, there have been some major updates this past year. I've shared a few resources to create augmented reality experiences, and Assemblr Studio made it on that list. Some of the positive features include an extensive 3D Animated library of content, a simple creation platform, and additional interactive options. I uploaded a few of those experiences in my new book, The Immersive Classroom and you can see a sneak peek in the video below. The benefit of using the Studio product is the creation process done on a computer, but because it is an application to install on your computer, that currently eliminates Chromebooks. The Assemblr app also includes a simplified studio experience to create AR content.
The next big update is a new product called Assemblr EDU. Imagine Google Classroom with 3D/AR capabilities. Not only is the platform involve setting up your classroom, sharing resources, gaining student collaboration and feedback, but it's synced with the Studio product to easily share AR projects with your students. I've shown a few experiences in Studio and the option in the Assemblr EDU app in the video below.
"More than content consumption, the recent release of Assemblr Studio makes AR creation simple but flexible enough for additional interactions." page 33 of The Immersive Classroom
Steps to Get Started in Studio:
Download the Assemblr app (iOS and Android) or download the computer application here.
Select the QR code option unless you can purchase a personalized trigger image.
Add 3D objects from the library onto the scene
Share your experience by downloading the QR code and adding it to your Assemblr EDU app or any other communication platform. The option to push out the experience directly to the EDU app is a great surprise!
