Day 13: Merge Object Viewer Update

It wouldn't be a true #31DaysofARVRinEDU event without sharing a Merge update! The next update is scheduled to post next week, but you'll get a sneak peek of the new features. The update will be in the Object Viewer app, and it's a big win for those looking to innovate in a remote learning environment.

Not only did the Object Viewer app get a bit of a facelift with the user interface design, but the app no longer requires a Merge Cube. The student can switch between the Cube and World mode and place the objects on the floor, a table, or adding them to a pedestal in the app. The 3D objects are numerous, and the collections are customizable. The most beneficial feature in Object Viewer is the option to upload your own 3D content, which can also be added to collections.

"Once the object is uploaded, Merge provides a specific object code that allows others to view the same 3D file. Students can organize 3D files into collections and share entire collections with others." page 33 The Immersive Classroom

Steps to Get Started:

  1. Download the Object Viewer app (iOS & Android) and create an account

  2. Open one of the collections and select a 3D object to view in the cube or in the world view

  3. Share your AR experience by taking a screenshot or screen record your scene
